Om dette sted

The Gemäldegalerie in Berlin holds one of the world's most distinguished collections of European paintings, spanning the thirteenth to the eighteenth century. Housed in a purpose-built building at the Kulturforum, designed by Heinz Hilmer and Christoph Sattler and opened in 1998, the museum brings together masterworks that were separated for decades between East and West Berlin during the city's division. The permanent collection includes paintings by Rembrandt, Vermeer, Caravaggio, Botticelli, and Raphael, displayed across more than seventy galleries arranged around a vast central hall.

Visitors can explore the collection through an entry ticket that also covers current exhibition programming. The Kulturforum location places the Gemäldegalerie alongside the Philharmonie and the Kunstgewerbemuseum, making it a focal point for the arts in the Tiergarten district. For anyone with a serious interest in Old Master painting, the museum represents one of the most comprehensive single-site collections in continental Europe.
