Acerca de este lugar

The Brancacci Chapel stands within the Church of Santa Maria del Carmine in the Oltrarno district of Florence, on the south bank of the Arno. It is home to one of the most celebrated fresco cycles in Western art, painted largely by Masaccio and Masolino da Panicale in the 1420s, with later sections completed by Filippino Lippi. Masaccio's figures, particularly in the Expulsion of Adam and Eve from the Garden and the Tribute Money, broke decisively from the flat conventions of medieval painting and helped establish the foundations of Renaissance art. The chapel takes its name from the Brancacci family, Florentine silk merchants who commissioned the decoration.

Access to the chapel is carefully managed to protect the frescoes, and visitor numbers are kept deliberately low. An English guided tour is currently available, offering structured commentary on the iconography, the artists, and the technical innovations that made this small room so consequential to the history of painting in Europe.
