Fast track entry allows visitors to bypass the standard queuing process at the main entrance, which can run to several hours during peak periods.

The collections range from Egyptian antiquities and Etruscan artefacts to Renaissance paintings and classical sculpture. The Museo Pio-Clementino, one of the most significant galleries within the complex, holds the Vatican Museums celebrated ancient marble works, including the Laocoön and His Sons, a first-century Greek sculpture excavated in Rome in 1506 and immediately acquired by Pope Julius II.

What to expect

Visitors move through a sequence of galleries at their own pace, with no guide included in this ticket. The route passes through the Gallery of Maps, the Raphael Rooms, and the Gallery of Tapestries before reaching the Sistine Chapel. The chapel ceiling, painted by Michelangelo between 1508 and 1512, depicts scenes from Genesis, while the altar wall features his Last Judgement, completed in 1541. The side walls carry frescoes by Botticelli, Ghirlandaio, and Perugino. Entry covers access to the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel, with staff assistance available at the meeting point on Via Sebastiano Veniero 74. Audio guides and guided tours are not included and would need to be arranged separately.

The Vatican Museums complex sits within Vatican City, adjacent to St Peter's Basilica, and is reached most directly via the Ottaviano metro station on Line A, roughly a ten-minute walk from the entrance.
