The play follows a man bound to science who sets out in search of the so-called angel bone, said to hold the secret of life itself. When a bone in his own arm begins to tremble, it opens a door onto genetic memory and pulls him backwards through time, from a present-day fossil excavation to a medieval laboratory and on into the ancient world. As his journey deepens into something close to a Faustian bargain, the production circles a single question: what is life? Expect the sweeping movement, visual imagination and shifting worlds that define Noda's work, carried by a large ensemble.
